In a landmark event that marks a new chapter for healthcare in the region, St. Joseph Mingende Rural Hospital has been officially accredited as a Level 4 District Hospital, coinciding with its 75th anniversary celebrations. The achievement culminates a 14-year journey of relentless effort and brings immense pride to the community it has served since its establishment in 1950.
The accreditation was formally announced by Health Minister Elias Kapavore, who commended the strong and enduring partnership between the government and the Catholic Church in delivering vital healthcare services to the people. “This milestone opens new opportunities for support from provincial health authorities, enabling the hospital to recruit skilled medical professionals and expand its services,” Minister Kapavore stated. He added that the accreditation ushers in a new era for Mingende, positioning the hospital as a beacon of quality care and hope for surrounding communities.
Simbu Governor Noah Kool and Kerowagi MP Francis Kool joined in celebrating the achievement, praising the hospital staff for their unwavering dedication and service. The anniversary ceremony also served as an occasion to recognize and honor long-serving staff members for their years of commitment.
In a significant pledge to bolster the hospital’s capabilities, MP Kool announced that the Kerowagi District Development Authority would donate a vehicle to strengthen daily operations. He reflected that the hospital’s remarkable journey from its humble beginnings to a Level 4 facility is a powerful testament to the collective effort and community spirit that defines the people of Simbu in their pursuit of improved healthcare access.
