KAMATARU PRIMARY SCHOOL CELEBRATES NEW CLASSROOMS AFTER 30-YEAR WAIT

KAMATARU PRIMARY SCHOOL CELEBRATES NEW CLASSROOMS AFTER 30-YEAR WAIT

After decades of neglect, Kamataru Primary School in remote Kerowagi District finally has two brand-new classrooms, officially opened on February 27, 2025. Funded by the Kerowagi DDA with K50,000, the project brings hope to students from the Towaku, Giuna, and Wimba clans who previously studied in crumbling buildings. Local MP Francis Kikin Siune, known for prioritizing rural development, pushed for the project despite funding delays and tough terrain.

Community leader Kawage Dias expressed gratitude, saying, “People thought our mountain home was just wilderness—now they see we’ve built a future here.” Contractors John Jerry and Kawage Judge overcame logistical challenges to complete the classrooms, earning praise from MP Kikin, who urged unity: “If we work together for our children, God will bless us.”

Headmaster John Wale called it the school’s first infrastructure upgrade since 1990 but stressed the need for teacher housing. With road improvements also underway, the community sees this as just the beginning. As they celebrate, they honor late leader Siwi Korondo’s legacy—and believe MP Kikin is bringing long-awaited progress to Gena-Waugla.
