KEROWAGI DISTRICT PRESENTS K42 MILLION BUDGET FOR 2026

KEROWAGI DISTRICT PRESENTS K42 MILLION BUDGET FOR 2026

By KDDA in Focus

Kerowagi MP Francis Kikin Siune presented a K42 million district budget to the Treasury Department on Thursday, January 29, 2026, a significant increase from last year’s K24 million allocation.

Treasury Minister Ian Ling-Stuckey formally invited MP Siune to present the budget, which supports the district’s shift toward investment-focused development.

Mr Siune explained that the budget covers outstanding funds and PIPs from the previous year while enabling new service delivery programs. Kerowagi is the third district to present its budget this week, following East New Britain and Manus.

Minister Ling-Stuckey commended the MP’s leadership, noting the Treasury had reviewed positive reports from the district and stood ready to support its continued progress.

The Minister also issued a critical reminder about funding timelines. He confirmed that 2026 is the final year for service delivery implementation, as the Ombudsman Commission will cease all government funding in April 2027. This makes the current budget cycle the last opportunity for districts to access and implement allocations.

The K42 million boost positions Kerowagi District to advance its investment agenda and complete priority programs before the deadline.
