THREE former founding Members of Parliament (MPs) from Kerowagi district Chimbu Province were honored when three important infrastructures were named after them.
A new State of the Art Kerowagi town market to be built was to be named after former MP John Kamb, while a new Bunamugl High School in Gena-Waugla area is to be named after pioneer MP Siwi Korondo as Siwi Krondo Memorial High School and the new Kerowagi district administration building as Wena Willie Building.
Korondo and Willie were pioneer MPs who represented Kerowagi district in the foundation House of Assembly in the 60s and early 70s.
Current Kerowagi MP Francis Siune Kikin paid tribute and homage to these former MPs and named the new basic infrastructures after them during a launch of Kerowagi district development projects in Kerowagi on Wednesday this week.
Kikin said it is important that these important infrastructures are named after them to always recall them for what they have done for Kerowagi district especially during pre-independence and after independence.
The new Kerowagi town market will be constructed at the cost of K1 million, Kerowagi district development authority (KDDA) made available K800, 000 while Governor Noah Kool presented K200, 000 to MP Kikin.
The K10 million development projects launched were Koronigle to Gena and Pari road maintenance, Koronigle market construction and Kerowagi urban road upgrade, new truck for Kondiu Secondary School, Kerowagi town boundary demarcation, Nogar health post maintenance and new ambulance, Neragaima ambulance, Kambu Technical School, District grants for four Local Level Governments, foot bridges, Kerowagi town water supply, abattoir support, church partnership support, Barawagi Correctional Services support, Bundun Prmary School fencing, Gawa-Konda Primary School double classroom, Waghi River foot bridge, district website, District Works Unit, Barawagi market, Biiwol road maintenance and e-learning facilities for 30 Primary Schools.
Kikin said they are working hard to fulfill the district motto ‘Leave No Kerowagi Behind’.
The launching was attended by Governor Kool, Provincial Executive Council members, new Simbu Provincial Administrator John Punde, Public Servants and the people of Kerowagi.
